Obama Should not Apologize for his Comment on the Gates Arrest

Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr. was arrested for disorderly conduct while trying to force open the front door of his home near Harvard University Thursday, July 16, 2009.

Crowley says stated that he arrested Gates for yelling. Nothing else, no threatening movement, only yelling. On the front porch of his own home. Yelling is not a crime.

Yelling does not meet the definition of disorderly conduct in Massachusetts. Not one shouted word or action that Crowley has attributed to Gates, amounts to disorderly conduct. That is why the charges had to be dropped.

In the initial Police report there is a slight conflict with the final police report. In Crowley's initial narrative, he stated that he "stepped out to gather information from the reporting person Lucia Whalen" after he had already been inside the home with Gates. In his final report, he stated he was told by Whalen upon arriving what led up to her making the call to the police department. (slight difference is not even the norm of this report) He also stated that he asked Mr. Gates to step outside the resident and Gates refused; in his report he states he arrested Gates for disorderly conduct and causing a public scene.

Well why were you (Mr. Crowley)asking this man to step outside when you already knew there was a small crowd outside the house?

So why was Gates arrested? Here's Crowley's credible, but somewhat troubling, version of events:

"As I descended the stairs to the sidewalk, Gates continued to yell at me, accusing me of racial bias and continued to tell me that I had not heard the last of him. Due to the tumultuous manner Gates had exhibited in his residence as well as his continued tumultuous behavior outside the residence . . . I warned Gates that he was becoming disorderly." Meanwhile, onlookers "appeared surprised and alarmed by Gates' outburst."

Read the police report for yourselves and tell what you think.

I feel that Gates was falsey arrested, for the simple fact that, there is no law prohibiting a civilian from talking back to a oficer, however, both parties overreacted in this situation.

The president was right when he called the arrest stupid. That doesn't mean Crowley is stupid. It means that in that moment, he made a stupid choice in arresting Gates. And the President does not owe them an apology for what he said.

So Matt McConaughey did an interview with ELLE magazine recently

So Matt McConaughey did an interview with ELLE magazine recently.

ELLE: Any woman you can think of who might not be coverworthy, but whom you find attractive?

MM: Not so specifically, but yeah. And I see it more with black women, who get dressed up and they’re wearin’ everything to fit snug, and they’re walking the walk. And you’re like, Man, look at you go! Where did you get that? She might be a larger package, but boy, she sure understands how she’s wrapped. Source

The Blogger of this post asked what do we (the public) think about this.

There are a lot of comments here stating that he was being racist and that black women shouldn't be on the cover of magazines, even though they look good. And on and on and on.

There other commenters that support what he says and state that he was not being racist and I agree with them.

So with that said, I have this to say:

Calm down folks, the interviewer really didn’t word that question right, but if you slow down and read it one word at a time you will see what they are asking him. Once you do that and truly understand the question, you want think that he is being negative or racist at all.

Question: “Any woman you can think of who might not be coverworthy, but whom you find attractive?”

Revised: Is there any woman that magazine editors might not find coverworthy, but you are attracted to them.

The question above that they asked him was to cover up their own bulls&%$ and the truth about these magazines out here Blackballin’ plus sized women.

He answered”Not so specifically, but yeah. And I see it more with black women, who get dressed up and they’re wearin’ everything to fit snug, and they’re walking the walk. And you’re like, Man, look at you go! Where did you get that? She might be a larger package, but boy, she sure understands how she’s wrapped.”

Translation:

Not so specifically, but yeah = he knew the question was misleading

And I see it more with black women, who get dressed up and they’re wearin’ everything to fit snug, and they’re walking the walk = I see this happening more to black women, who be looking damn good, clothes fitting nice, and that walk that makes you stand up

And you’re like, Man, look at you go! Where did you get that? = Damn, where you get that bod from

She might be a larger package, but boy, she sure understands how she’s wrapped = Although, the magazines don’t cover these type of women(thick), she has confidence, struts her stuff and knows she is the bomb without the cover of a magazine, and I like it

That is what I take from his comment

Some people read so deep into things but not deep enough, until they get confused.

Read a little deeper folks and clear your minds, get the stereotypes, and negative thoughts out of your mind before reading controversial posts from right winged and side eyed media coverage

T.I Child Support

This woman Lashon Dixon needs to be knocked in the head, wake up woman, you were not married to this man. You using those kids to live a lifestyle that you are jealous of on someone else's behalf. If I am not mistaken, these are children that you and T.I. had before he became T.I. he was Clifford then right, working a 9 -5 airport job.

This man (T.I "Clifford") was already ordered to pay just over $3000 a month in child support plus continue (meaning he was already doing this) paying for private school, uninsured medical expenses, and any and all extracurricular activities. He provided this woman (Lashon Dixon) the down payment on the new house she lives in and obviously chose herself.

T.I. statement:
"A lot of deceiving information has been reported regarding my recent child support proceeding. It is unfortunate that the media has been used to manipulate the circumstances and distort the facts. Those that know me, all know that there is nothing more important to me than my children. I have always supported all of my children financially, emotionally, and spiritually. This has always been the case and I will continue to do so in the future as this is my responsibility as a parent.

To clarify the recent reports, in addition to the $2000 per month I pay in cash to Lashon Dixon, the mother of my sons Domani and Messiah, I also pay for their private schooling, medical insurance, clothing, food, gifts, birthdays and extracurricular activities. Their extracurricular activities have included football, basketball, baseball, acting lessons, summer camp, and any other activities that they express a desire to be involved in that will contribute to them leading balanced lives and developing into well rounded individuals. I have also made an attempt to help Lashon with additional payments that have included a down payment to purchase her home, purchase of an automobile for her transportation and other financial obligations. These expenses are documented and are far in excess of the $2000 cash payment that is being paid direct to Lashon. She has chosen not to work and to live 100% from her child support receipts. This is the reason for her difficulties in making ends meet for herself.

Not only do I support my boys 100% financially, I am also committed to their emotional and spiritual growth. While I would enjoy the luxury of being present for all of my children’s activities, unfortunately the demands of my career and the need to secure my family’s financial security as well as insuring my kid’s personal growth dictates that I travel constantly and work tirelessly. Despite my hectic schedule, I make it a priority to be present for important occasions in their lives. This includes being home for their birthdays, school functions and being present at as many of their extra-curricular activities as I am able. I also am available to them at all times to provide guidance and support as a father regardless of my schedule or location. They are my first priority.

Again, there is nothing more important to me than my children. This is demonstrated by my effort to support them in every way that I can. Any reasonable person knowing the facts would conclude that all of my children’s needs are being far exceeded. My support of them in every way is documented and cannot be legitimately challenged.

I believe that it is every parent’s responsibility to provide unconditional love and support for their kids. I have made every attempt to do so for my boys. Again, I provide 100% of their financial support. I should only be judged for my actions and not Lashon’s conscience decision not to work and not to contribute to the financial support of our boys." Now I just want to say woman get a damn job, go back to school, or something to earn something for yourself and kids, they are not just his kids, you need to provide for them too. Which you obviously are not doing, because he (T.I.) is paying for everything and more. Your ass just spending the funds that he is providing.

I wonder what would you be asking for if he was still working that job and tappin' that ass every now and then?

Savings account my ass, that is just a line for alimony in disguise.
